Content Knowledge Standard Summary:

Teachers should know the core content and central concepts of their subject. Teachers need to know the tools they can use to make students interested and keep them engaged. The teacher should also create learning experiences that make the subject accessible and meaningful. This will ultimately ensure mastery in the content area. It is essential for the teacher to know the subject area they are teaching. This will ensure that students will understand what they are learning. The student will be able to meet the overall goal of mastery if the teacher has full awareness and comprehensive knowledge of the content area.

The logo above is a link to my Art Praxis Content Area test score. Having knowledge of materials, mediums, and art history is required to teach art. Without this knowledge, I would not be able to create curriculum content that is accurate and engaging. 

VCLA Scores:

Linked to the logo above is my Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment score is provided. Passing the VCLA exhibits that I have adequate reading and writing skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues. By showing my understanding of the art content area and being able to effectively communicate, I have the ability to create learning experiences that engage and empower students.

The Watercolor Lesson Plan I created exhibits my understanding of watercolor and my ability to create a curriculum for students to understand. In this lesson plan, I have developed a learning experience that is accessible and keeps students engaged. To have an understanding of the content you need to have experience with materials that are involved in the subject. I have experience in watercolors, digital photography, oil painting, mixed media, and ceramics.
