Learning Environments

Learning Environments Standard Summary:

Teachers should work effectively with other faculty to have an environment that will be all-inclusive, create support for each student, and encourage collaborative learning. The teacher should create an atmosphere that provides positive social interaction, engagement in learning, and self-motivating factors. I have three artifacts that represent this InTASC standard.  This standard is essential to learning because most students learn through social interaction and group efforts. Students will feel included if the classroom is prepared correctly. Incorporating this standard will provide an engaging environment and help students self-motivate.

Classroom Management Plan:

Linked to the picture, is a classroom management plan Classroom Management Plan Lauren Beversluis1 I created for my Internship at James Madison Middle School. It includes rules and procedures that need to be reviewed during the first week and weeks continuing until the students understand expectations. This also includes an action plan that I will use in my classroom to ensure a classroom environment that is inclusive.

First Day Script:

If you click on the photo, attached you will find my First Day Script . It is a great example of creating a classroom learning environment that will be supportive of student learning and create an inclusive community in the classroom. Using the first few days to go over rules and procedures ensures that my learning environment will be welcoming and there is communication between teacher and student of expectations.

Class Room Visual Aids:

The classroom environment should include a visual representation of expected behavior. In my student teaching classroom, I have representations of what craftsmanship in an artwork is on a scale from 1-4.  There is also a visual resource that describes levels of participation. Having a visual representation of what is expected allows students to have self-motivation to create better artwork.
